Laparoscopic Fundoplication Video
This video shows a laparoscopic adaptation of the Nissen fundoplication. The Nissen fundoplication is a 360° suturing of the upper part of the stomach to the esophagus to create a collar that places increased pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter to prevent or decrease acid reflux. Until recently the procedure required an "open" surgery but now the use of laparoscopic technology reduces recovery time, discomfort and scarring.
