Acid Reflux Pillow
Some GERD sufferers put gravity to use for them by using an acid reflux pillow. This “positional therapy” helps alleviate nighttime occurrences of acid reflux. By elevating the patient’s head and shoulders the acids are less likely to pass the lower esophageal sphincter into the esophagus. This propping can cause lower back pain, so getting the right gear helps.
The acid reflux pillow is available in many forms and materials. The most common are foam pillows and soft plastic wedges. An inflatable acid reflux pillow can be adjusted to the individual user.
An acid reflux pillow can also used for a variety of other conditions such as congestive heart failure, sleep apnea and snoring, Barrett’s esophagus and general stomach/digestive system problems.
Prices range from $25 to over $100, depending on what type you want and what material it is made from.
